The Palace Residency can be a stimulating, and sometimes overwhelming experience. It is important to regularly check in with yourself as you go through this journey. Please come prepared with any resources and practices you need to help maintain your internal balance. Remember: it’s a marathon, not a race—be sure to rest and take time and space for yourself as needed.
The Palace Residency will also be supported by a Community Care Team who take an active role in supporting resident and community welfare. The Community Care team will strive to ensure the residency is a safer space and acts as a point of contact for anyone experiencing mental and physical health challenges, harassment or oppression, or is otherwise in need of support. The team will have protocols to address much of what may come up at the residency.
The Community Care team emerges from the collaboration and cooperation of all residents in attendance to collectively create an environment founded on softness, reciprocity, and resilience. If you are interested in contributing your skills and experience, or you have questions please contact us at residents@thepalacecollective.org. Finally, as part of our collective effort to make the 2024 Residency a safer space for all residents, please read and adhere to the Palace Code of Conduct.
An energy that we all possess and a choice to embody that energy in the way you move through the world and relate to the people around you.
Communication that centers care, support, and radical vulnerability as its foundation.
Prioritising empathy both towards yourself and towards others.
To actively dismantle domination culture, white supremacy, and heteropatriarchy.
Creating hospitable grounds for when someone is missing the ability to reflect on their own mistakes, choosing to be constructive and have compassion.
Educational instead of punitive; drawing from the work of abolition and rehabilitation movements to make decisions and respond as a community.
We choose to teach those willing to learn, this does not imply that we are saviours.
Valuing the work that others do and vocalising it.
Actively empowering your team with agency, creative liberty, and a network of emotional labour that is based on reciprocity.
Being mindful of power dynamics that exist within a work environment and how that is influenced by a person’s particular social context.
Every voice being heard and valued, this does not imply that only the loudest voices are listened to.
